Jennifer Gille, 29, got picked up by a cab about 1 a.m. Sunday from a motel in Covington and was driven to Harrison Avenue south of the city, Covington Police spokesman Capt. Jack West said.
But when she arrived at the destination, Gille refused to get out of the cab and began behaving erratically, West said. The woman first took off her clothing, then demanded that the cabbie take her to Michigan, he said.

You've already seen Louisiana's U.S. Senate candidates sling mud at each another. Now how about a mixed martial arts cagematch? That's what Mike Spears, an independent candidate from Lafayette-- one of 11 challengers to incumbent Republican David Vitter -- proposed last week.

"In early America, when a politician insulted the honor of another,
a duel was in order. Consider this challenge a modern-day duel," Spearssaid. "Sen. Vitter's behavior, his admission of breaking the law in2007, has insulted the honor of the people of Louisiana."
Spears, 46, said he wants three rounds with Vitter on Oct. 16 at the Cajundome in Lafayette. "This fight will symbolize the epic battle between the American people and an out-of-control, tyrannical federal government and the reckless politicians at the helm," he said. Spears said he has no previous experience in mixed martial arts, but that he is prepared to go up against a "standby fighter" on the off chance that Vitter declines the challenge.

Authorities: Father-in-law shoots son-in-law a second time

MANSFIELD — The man shot Wednesday night by his father-in-law has been shot by the same man before — and with the same gun, authorities said Thursday.

Alvin Gentry, 39, of the 900 block of Daw Road, is recovering in LSU Hospital in Shreveport of a through-and-through gunshot wound to his back. The injury is non-life threatening, DeSoto sheriff's Cpl. Dusty Herring said.

McKinney gave officers the gun he used in the shooting, as well as a confession, Herring said. Still, Gentry was reluctant to have charges pressed against his father-in-law, the detective added.

It was Gentry's decision years ago not to have McKinney prosecuted for shooting him the first time. In that incident, which was more than five years ago, McKinney shot Gentry in both legs below the knee.
